Just an Update

by me on Dec.11, 2008, under Life, Relationships, Self Improvement, Work

Well, I’m really excited about the end of the year coming up.  I’ve been working with the same company for 1 year and 4 months.  Longest so far besides my very first job working for LSU.  Anywho, I’ve met an absolutely wonderful man and we’ve been dating for 6 months come Saturday.  I’m thinking about doing some special, and we have a formal party we are attending that I need to shop for.  I’m thinking about stopping by K and G on the way home and picking up a suit for the party.  Just haven’t had time.  Traffic is also pretty horrid lately.

I’ve started watching what I eat, which isn’t easy.  I’ve gotten a little complacent and I get free meals too often.  I’ve started cooking in more often or eating my shake for dinner.  Lunch is the biggest meal by far, I need to cut down on it.

I’m working out 4/7 days now, I’ve met my goal this work, although I’ll probably hit the gym once more tomorrow night.

Oh a lighter note, I’m totally going to see The Day the Earth Stood Still tomorrow night.  If my boyfriend wants to go I’ll have to adjust or kidnap him or something.

Speaking of kidnappy him, he’s got a lot on his plate right now and I just wish I could help out more than I do, he’s just a little far away right now, I get out there on weekends mostly and he comes in for a couple of days during the week.  I know eventually we’ll find a place together, the commute really isn’t even that bad and having out own places is good for our relationship, it makes seeing each other that much more important.  Anywho, I love him and I’m a mushy guy so I’m sure I embarass him at times… haha.  He’ll just have to learn to deal with it!

I’m off to bed now.  Have a meeting with Microsoft tomorrow.  Punks!

Birthday Party

by me on Aug.02, 2008, under Uncategorized

So my friends threw me this spontaneous birthday party on Friday night. It was great, we went bowling and had a few beers and then to my surprise, they had gotten me a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. Anyway, it was great and I need to send them all e-mails thanking them.

Never wanting to see my ex again…

by me on Jul.17, 2008, under Self Improvement

Well, I just saw some pictures because a mutual friend of ours sent me some pictures of a party he was at.  Yeah I never want to see him again.  He looked pretty awful too, I was surprised at how quickly people like that go down hill and fast.  Looks like he’s got a new somebody to mooch off of.  They’ll figure it out eventually.

Oh well, I’m better off and I have met a great guy.  Albeit farther away than I’d like… :)  It all works out.

It will be interesting to see how things work out because I know my friend will invite him to everything so I just won’t go to those things I suppose.  I’m meeting some worthwhile people anyway.

Karma is a bitch I suppose.  What a fucking loser!  Oh well, see ya.

Just think of it this way, had I not dated him and gone through all of that, I wouldn’t have met the guy I’m seeing now, so in a way, that fuckup helped me find a genuinely good guy!

Backfilling my Posts

by me on Jun.29, 2008, under Uncategorized

Well, this past week caught me by surprise.  I was apparently scheduled for training.  It didn’t warn me until about 5 minutes before my meeting and our HR reminded me the day before.  So that sucked up 3 days of my week.  Then on Friday we had a 4th of July party.

Anyway, so that took me some getting used to.  I also had to miss my training this week because meetings were rescheduled and I had to catch up on work.  So, this week I’m back in the swing of things.

I just got back from visiting the guy I’m dating right now.  He’s really sweet.  A bit shy, and he lives about 30-45min away.  That’s not too bad, except traffic really depends on when I get out there.  He’s got a wonderful house, it’s 4 bedrooms or some such things.  It’s huge.  I was surprised when I saw it.

I started playing this game again, called Eve Online.  We’ll see how it goes.  I get bored easily so if it holds my attention it’s a winner, if not then it’s on to something else.  Maybe I need a more productive hobby.

Other than that stuff life is good.  I’m just keeping busy, trying to figure some things out.  Since I broke up with my ex I’ve had a LOT more expendable income and more is going into savings.  So I’m happy about that.

Alrighty, time to figure out what’s for dinner.

Yogurt, Chive, Cilantro Dip

by me on May.26, 2008, under Recipes

Yogurt is a great base for dips because it is so versatile, like a blank canvas. You can add it to avocados for an ultra-creamy guacamole, use it tone down hot salsas and use it on its own, as I have done here, to showcase other flavors.

Like many yogurt dips, this one is incredibly easy to make. It has only a few ingredients and requires little more than a stir to bring it together, yet it as at least as satisfying as those “ranch-style” dips that often turn up at parties. It goes well with potato chips, pita chips, crackers and veggies. I’m not a huge fan of raw garlic in dips, so I chose to use garlic powder here. The very small amount imparts the dip with some depth, but using the powder also streamlines the “cooking” process for this recipe - and it’s always nice to save a couple of minutes when you’re preparing for a party. By all means go ahead and use the minced raw garlic for a stronger flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain yogurt*
  • 2 tbsp chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp cilantro, finely chopped
  • scant ½ tsp salt, to taste
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder (or ½ minced garlic clove), to taste

Preperation

Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl (doubling if you want more) and stir well, adding additional salt or garlic as desired. Dip can be served right away, but is best after the flavors meld for a few hours, or overnight, in the fridge.

Cinco de Mayo Fun

by me on May.06, 2008, under Uncategorized

Well, Stephen planned out this whole Cinco de Mayo party yesterday.  He cleaned up the house, it looks great, but the laundry didn’t get done so I am doing it today.  I don’t really drink so I steered away from the liquor but those that were here were drinking and having a good time.  I met a couple of new folks and a few of our friends came over.  It was a good time all around.

We had a little adventure to find something to eat around 9pm.  First we went to Uncle Joe’s Mexican Restaurant which is within walking distance from my house.  WELL, my friends wanted to drive, haha.  So we wound up driving like a quarter of a mile to the restaurant.  I’m just glad the people driving weren’t drinking.

Well, we got to the restaurant and it’s PACKED, at least an hour wait.  So we decided to go to El Azteca which is even CLOSER to my house.  And we DROVE!  I just didn’t get it. haha  Well, we get there and my friends are like we don’t want to wait the 30 minutes for a table.  So we all decide we are going to go to Kroger and just pick some stuff up.  This was fine for me since I just slapped down some cash on personal training.  My personal trainer seems really really nice though.  I would almost follow him to a different gym if I needed to.

So we get to Kroger and my boyfriend buys beer and I get a little chicken wrap because I didn’t have dinner.  I was at work late and had to get to the gym for 6:30 and then got home about 7:30 and chatted a bit.  So it wasn’t until about 9pm that I got some food, I’m sure my personal trainer will be excited about that.

Well, our friend Tyler and I decide to walk back to the house, it will take us like 5-10min to get back and we didn’t feel like piling into the car, so we start walking and we chat up about his new and old job for a while.  I get back to the house and Stephen and our friend Jonathan had driven BACK to the Kroger because they “forgot” the beer.  Well, they didn’t forget it, I carried the damn thing back on my walk.  So I called them and they came back.

I just had this picture of Stephen cursing out the Kroger manager and accusing the staff of stealing his beer.  Gees.

All in all, my boyfriend got drunk, at least he’s a happy drunk (not a very productive or safe drunk, but happy).  They also did other stuff which I won’t get into, because I’m not into all that crap.  I finally told him I had to get in bed because I had a conference call with Australia in the morning.  So we got all cozy in bed around midnight.  I got up at 6am… *brain explosion*

I always feel SO sleeping when I have to get up that early on work days, but on weekends I’m up that early anyway.  It’s definitely a Pavlovian response.

That’s about it for yesterday.  Came home to a clean apartment today too.  :)
