Flexibility Routines

Personal Training, Self Improvement No Comments »

I want to start a flexibility routine to gain a little bit more mobility in my joints. It’s not horrible, but it’s not good. I’m doing all of the other health stuff, just lagging on this one.

Alrighty, I’ll update this post when I find one that works for me.

Ok, so to keep myself on track I’m going to blog what and where I eat for lunch each day, since that’s the only meal that I eat aside from my shake in morning and night.

The co-workers wanted to go to lunch at a burger place near work.

Place: Fudruckers

Meal: Turkey Burger with Lettuce, pickles, jalapeños, and yellow mustard on a toasted white bun, with a side caesar salad.

Drink: Water

Buying a Shirt

Fashion, Life, Personal Training No Comments »

So I was invited to go out last night by someone I met at a Gay Professionals Meetup Group. He was a nice guy, consultant from the UK in town on contract until August. So I said sure. I didn’t want to go home and my shirt was my “going to the park and it’s comfortable” shirt. So I walk over to this place at the base on my friend’s condo and walk in and the attendant asks if I need help. I, of course, being the “man” that I am so, no thanks I’m sure I can find something.

Well let me tell ya something. There were so many things that I would have never bought before in there that I just couldn’t figure it out. So I ask the obviously gay attendant that I really did need help. So he has no idea that I was gay in the beginning. So he asks me what I like and I told him that I want it to be comfortable and fairly conservative. None of the ridiculous patches or prints on them. I don’t really get that whole thing. He was nice and understood. He actually said that I was a challenge because I didn’t know what I wanted and didn’t care as long as it met certain criteria. So I go in to the changing room and him and his other gay employees start throwing shirts at me. I tried one on that was “tapered” which means tight as shit at the bottom in French!

So apparently my working out has yet to yield tummy results! I’m working on it bitches!

So I try on this trendy tapered shirt, a regular polo (which was a bit tight and the sleeves were a bit short), this t-shirt (I hate going out in t-shirts), and then this really thin nice short sleeve shirt. Ok, from that description of course it’s the one I bought. It was tighter that I would have bought, but all the gay guys said I looked “fierce” whatever the hell that means. haha

So I went back to the gay bookstore to show my friend Callie my purchase. She said, it looks nice without trying too hard. I agreed, I thought I looked really good.

Well, so 80 bucks and on shirt later, I was happy. *sigh* 80 bucks for a shirt! I shall be forced to cut a ho! Oh well, it was worth it. I’m excited when I lose some weight it’s clothes shopping time.

Workout #5

Alrighty, in the continuing effort to cronical my personal training experience. We did legs today. This was by far the hardest day we’ve done.

1. Did 40 minutes of cardio with my hearth rate between 150-160bpm
2. Leg extensions 3 sets of 10-12 at 100lbs
3. Leg curls, same
4. Jumping jacks and squat sets. 15 Squats no weights with 25 jumping jacks directly after.
5. Situps with ball and crunches.

So all in all a good workout. My legs were heavy after.

Personal Training day 3

Well, since I’m starting with day 3 I’ll recap days 1 and two plus give you a little background on my desire to get training.

First off, I’ve been going to the gym kind of whenever I wanted, which was not often.  So I needed someone to get me back into a training routine.  I signed up fro 1 year of training.  I think that was a wise decision and I’m ready to commit.  I’m doing 3 days a week for 3 months and 2 days for 9 months.  That should be sufficient to get things started.

First I did a consult which just setup my goals and did some health checks and stamina and such.  Well, I get VERY light headed apparently when I don’t eat about an hour before I work out.  It has to have protein and enough sugar to last me my entire workout.

Well, I’ve finally remedied that situation.  I eat a protein bar about 1 hour before my workout with at least 12 ounces of water.  I haven’t felt light headed yet.  I’m really enjoying the workouts so far.

Day 1, well I scheduled with Daniel at my gym for 3 days a week.  Never met him, was worried he’d be some muscle bound death machine.  Well, instead I walk up and this GORGEOUS man smiles at me and says hey, are you _____ and I say yes are you Daniel?  He’s like yep, ready?  So I get all nervous and I’m like, fuck I’m a fat bastard, but that’s why I’m here.  So he tells my goals will take about 8 months and I say well alrighty we better get started then!

We start with back and biceps.  We do a few exercises and I’m a sarcastic person so I start cracking jokes about how out of shape I am.  I really should stop that, but I really am enthusiastic about the workouts.  Let me tell ya, couldn’t move my arms for 2 days.

Day 2 was legs, actually not a bad workout, I wasn’t even sore, UNTIL YESTERDAY!  I walk like a penguin now.

And thursdays are chest and triceps.  Well, that wasn’t too bad, except that my triceps wore out like instantly.  I did good until I literally couldn’t move the weights anymore.  I’m not sure what that’s all about.  He said, alrighty you’re triceps are done.  I was like, no shit I can’t even push off the ground with them right now.

Just to give you some background, I’m not fat, but I’ve gained like 40 pounds over the last 8 years.  So I’m there to get that weight off and tone up a bit.  When I lose weight I get a bit muscley, I want to just tone up and not get big, so we’re working on that.

My boyfriend is all for it, but he’s a little jealous that my personal trainer is a hottie.  But my boyfriend is a hottie too, so he shouldn’t worry.

Well, I’m supposed to do cardio the rest of the week.  I’ve been doing about 40 minutes of cardio, 3 minutes of medium impact, 1 minutes of high impact for 40 minutes.

I really think this will work out.  I need to start a little tracker on here for my personal training goals and see where I am.
