10 Awesome First Date Ideas

Life, Relationships No Comments »
  1. Dinner Top Chef - For this first date idea you’ll want to pick a theme for your meal and you’ll go to a super market and you’ll each have a list of item categories you need to fill.  You can buy anything and you have a cap on how much you can spend.
When you have purchased your items, your partner and you switch items and have to make a meal together.  It’s can get competitive, but can also be a lot of fun.  Try it out.
  2. Theme Parks - Show your inner child by riding all the rides at your local theme park!
  3. Comedy Club - Get your funny bone on with a comedy show, some even serve dinner.
  4. Walking Through A Park - I’ve done this on almost all of my dates, I love going to the park and looking at all the people and seeing the dogs getting walked and talking to the person I’m with.
  5. Movie and Dinner - This is always a winner, although I find it hard to talk through the movie, but cuddling is never a problem!
  6. Scavenger Hunt - This works if you have a digital camera.  You have to work together to pick a place and the items you think might be there that you’ll need to photograph.  The goal is to get all of the items photographed with each of you in the picture with the item.  It’s a good ice-breaker and it shows what type of personality the other person has.
  7. Finding a Place Neither of you have gone… and going there together to explore!
  8. Visiting the Local Art Museum - This can always be fun, especially if you both have a fancy for art!
  9. Miniature Golf - Mini golf is always a fun and hilarious first date idea.  If you can act like a goof with a tiny windmill thwarting your balls advances then you’ll have a great time.
  10. Trivia Night - This is good at your local bar or eatery.  They often have trivia nights, you can take them there to work together and WIN!

Things You Should Always Include in a Memo… Apparently

Computer Security, Funny, Life, Work Related No Comments »

Ok, I apparently forgot to put some stuff in my memo. So there are a few elements that MUST be in a memo. I know this after this incident.

  1. What is going to occur?
  2. Why is it going to occur?
  3. When is it going to occur?
  4. Who is implementing and responsible for this memo?
  5. Who to contact with questions.

That should cover it. Hopefully I won’t forget to include those items. I usually forget the when part… haha

What is your daily routine?

My day seems so boring! haha

6:30-7:00am: Wake up and feel drowsy.
7:15am: Brush teeth and take shower.
7:30am: Make my breakfast shake.
8:00am: Check e-mail, get dressed and get work stuff together.
8:30am: Leave for work.
8:45-9:00am: Get into work and setup my computer.
9:00-10:30am: Do secret work related thingies!
10:30-11:30am: Catch up on E-mail and read security related articles to keep skills sharp.
11:30-12:30pm: Get an early start to lunch because it gets rowdy around here at lunch time.
12:30-1:30pm: Catch up on my e-mail. I swear these people and their e-mail.
1:30-2:30pm: Meetings or updating project data.
2:30-4:30pm: Completing Tickets and Tasks.
4:30pm: Prepare to go home and get to my car pondering whether traffic will be good or bad.
5:30pm: Arrive home… hopefully.

Somedays, I go to the gym for 5:30ish and get some cardio in before my personal training sessions. Then I’m home or out of there by 7:15pm.

Once I’m home I just relax, might watch a movie or something. If a friend calls they come over or I might go out and hang out with them. I don’t like to hang out too late on “school nights” though. haha

Personal Development

Life, Self Improvement 1 Comment »

So I need to come up with some personal development goals for the next 3 months. So here is what I came up with.

  • Health and Body
    • I want to be able to wear a size 32 pant and a small/medium t-shirt comfortably. Meaning that I don’t feel like I’m all poochy in them.
    • I want to be able to run a 5k in a reasonable amount of time without stopping.
    • I want to lose about 40 pounds. This one is flexible based on the size of my pants.
    • I want to be able to do 3 sets of 30 pushups and pullups. Also, situps or crunches.
  • Confidence
    • For me this has to do with surrounding myself with positive people that validate me and my efforts. This is a little more difficult.
    • I also need to know that I am great and all that stuff. So this one will evolve over the next few months.
    • I’m not down on myself, but I need to be more confident about who I am and that there are people out there that share my views and such.
  • Relationships
    • I want a healthy relationship or relationships with more friends and people that will encourage and empower me.
    • That means, no buying people things, taking care of myself first, surrounding myself with positive and dependable people.
    • Not being codependent. I’m not usually this way, so I don’t think that will be a huge issue.

I think those are reasonable goals. I’ll keep them updated weekly.

Buying a Shirt

Fashion, Life, Personal Training No Comments »

So I was invited to go out last night by someone I met at a Gay Professionals Meetup Group. He was a nice guy, consultant from the UK in town on contract until August. So I said sure. I didn’t want to go home and my shirt was my “going to the park and it’s comfortable” shirt. So I walk over to this place at the base on my friend’s condo and walk in and the attendant asks if I need help. I, of course, being the “man” that I am so, no thanks I’m sure I can find something.

Well let me tell ya something. There were so many things that I would have never bought before in there that I just couldn’t figure it out. So I ask the obviously gay attendant that I really did need help. So he has no idea that I was gay in the beginning. So he asks me what I like and I told him that I want it to be comfortable and fairly conservative. None of the ridiculous patches or prints on them. I don’t really get that whole thing. He was nice and understood. He actually said that I was a challenge because I didn’t know what I wanted and didn’t care as long as it met certain criteria. So I go in to the changing room and him and his other gay employees start throwing shirts at me. I tried one on that was “tapered” which means tight as shit at the bottom in French!

So apparently my working out has yet to yield tummy results! I’m working on it bitches!

So I try on this trendy tapered shirt, a regular polo (which was a bit tight and the sleeves were a bit short), this t-shirt (I hate going out in t-shirts), and then this really thin nice short sleeve shirt. Ok, from that description of course it’s the one I bought. It was tighter that I would have bought, but all the gay guys said I looked “fierce” whatever the hell that means. haha

So I went back to the gay bookstore to show my friend Callie my purchase. She said, it looks nice without trying too hard. I agreed, I thought I looked really good.

Well, so 80 bucks and on shirt later, I was happy. *sigh* 80 bucks for a shirt! I shall be forced to cut a ho! Oh well, it was worth it. I’m excited when I lose some weight it’s clothes shopping time.

Dependability

Life No Comments »

I think it’s very important for someone to be dependable. If a promise is made, do your best to keep that promise. I always try to live by that “code”. It you could call it a code. If I say, “I’ll be there at 7″ I do my very best to keep that. If I can’t possibly make it for I contact the person and let them know what’s going on.

So I’ve found that dependability in people is something that I like. I am dependable, so I kind of put that expectation on others. I know that noone is perfect so it won’t happen all the time, but most of the time would be a good thing.

I suppose Trust would fall a little bit under this too, but we’ll cover that later.
